The first obstacle in their way was UCC. UCC players Geraldine Power from Waterford and Cork's Libby Coppinger and Orlagh Farmer impressed spectators. Their team were down by a goal with just 23 seconds on the clock but they battled well for the entire game. While the scoreline shows a 9 point win for UL that probably doesn't give an accurate reflection of the game. In the last 10 minutes alone there was plenty of drama. UCC had a goal disallowed and scored a 52 nd minute penalty while UL's third goal came from the boot of Emma Needham in the dying seconds of the game. UL were not brilliant in the semi final but they did enough to earn the right to defend their title. Final Score: University of Limerick (UL) 3-14, University College Cork (UCC) 1-11 U Geraldine Power of UCC gathers possession ahead of Maria Curley of UL Eimear Scally of UL in action against Eimear Meaney of UCC Roisin Howard, left, and Shauna Howley of UL celebrate Emma Spillane of UCC in action against Laura Rogers of UL PANTONE: 3165 PANTONE: 398
