SINÉAD GOLDRICK AND THE OPENING 10 MINUTES OF EACH HALF. On review of the stats from this game, it was clear where the battle was lost and won. The opening ten minutes of the game belonged to Cork as they registered 1-3 on the scoreboard, attacked six times and only committed two unforced errors. However, it was also obvious that Dublin's tackling was not up to their usual standards. Take Áine O'Sullivan's first half goal for instance. In this sequence of play Cork move the ball well from defence to attack but Dublin cannot lay a hand on them, only Aoife Kane managed to register a tackle before the ball hit the back of the net. In total, Dublin only registered 16 tackles in these opening ten minutes, with nine tackles from defenders and seven from the forwards. www.ladiesgaelic.ie | WINTER 2020 | 5
