With Gaelic4Girls, sponsored By Glenveagh Homes, recently wrapping up for 2022, we had the opportunity to have a quick check-in with some of the new recruits. We found out their reasons for getting involved, what they liked about the programme as well as how they are finding being part of a new team. Name: Ria Fleming Age: 7 Club: Ballinacurra Gaels LGFA Why did you decide to take part in G4G programme? Because I thought I'd give it a try and then I loved it. What was the most fun aspect of the programme? When we do the shooting drills. What has been the best part about being part of a new team and club? Feeling I'm part of a club and making new friends Name: Abbey Donegan Age: 11 Club: Kerins O'Rahillys Why did you decide to take part in G4G programme? I joined the G4G programme, as I have never played football before and joined my school team. I really enjoyed it but I wanted to learn more about how to play football as all my friends knew how to play already. What was the most fun aspect of the programme for you? The most fun part were the games we played and a few times we played with fuzzy monster balls and that was great fun. What has been the best part about being part of a new team and club? The best parts were all the new people I met and friendships I made. I then joined the Kerins O' Rahilly's U12 team so I could continue playing football as I like playing and being part of their team. Name: Alison Hoffman Age: 8 Club: Kerins O'Rahillys Why did you decide to take part in G4G programme? I never played football before. I was invited to start playing with Kerins O'Rahillys, so I said I'd give it a go especially when I heard about this group for girls who hadn't played before. What was the most fun aspect of the programme? The part I really loved was doing the obstacle courses. It was great fun and everyone was laughing. We also had a great pizza party at the very end. What has been the best part about being part of a new team and club? The best bit about joining was that I made new friends who are all really nice.
