FEMALE ATHLETE HEALTH Taking care of your body goes far beyond just showing up to training. As a female athlete, it's important to understand your body, listen to it and work with it rather than against it. That means being aware of your menstrual cycle and how it might impact energy, mood or performance. Fuelling yourself properly, getting enough rest and not ignoring signs of burnout or injury. Health isn't just about being injury free, it's about feeling strong, balanced and supported physically and mentally. Prioritising your health is not a weakness, it's a strength and it's one of the best investments you can make in your performance and your long term wellbeing. If something doesn't feel right, talk to a friend, your coach, physio, GP or someone you trust. Here is the Female Athlete Toolkit that aims to improve health literacy around sex specific experiences for females who play Ladies Gaelic Football. FEMALE ATHLETE TOOLKIT Empowering Through Education. Developed by researchers at the Technological University of the Shannon in a collaborative educational initiative with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and the Camogie Association.
