56 | SPRING 2024 | www.ladiesgaelic.ie Spring is in the air and this means that our Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme, sponsored by Sports Direct, groups are waking from their winter slumber. We recently caught up with Treasa Ryan from the Oola club in Limerick to reflect on 2023, plan for 2024, and reveal the wider impact that Gaelic4Mothers&Others has had on the club, life, and community. Gaelic4Mothers&Others The Impact on our Community With 2024 G4M&O activity slowly gathering momentum, what are the aspects of the programme that you are most excited about? There is a great sense of genuine excitement about seeing everyone again, checking in and catching up with each other. I think the importance of the social side of Gaelic4Mothers&Others can never be underestimated, that connection created with people of similar interests who can come together once a week and leave the house and work regardless behind them. I always joke after training "I wonder did the house fairy (a bit like the tooth fairy) pop in while we were away and do a few jobs for us " knowing well they won't have. In other words girls and ladies it will all still be there for you after training so make and take one hour a week for yourselves and this wonderful group. Q: Q: A: A: In our recent discussion as part of the Sports Direct Webinar Series we discussed your involvement in other aspects of the club. Have you any plans to get involved in further aspects of club life? I would like to think that down the line I will put my hand up for other officer roles, but right now I want to concentrate on coordinating the Healthy club initiative, coordinating ball4all, G4M&O and I have recently moved from the nursery programme to the under 8's girls so I am looking forward to seeing the girls that will have moved from nursery this year to learning more skills and having fun on Friday evenings. At the moment we are planning a fun filled Lá na gClub day for Easter Monday where we hope to celebrate all that is good about Gaelic games and welcome young, and not so young, to our club to take part in some activities. Our healthy clubs are G4M&O
