VOLUNTEER FOCUS Together We Can Achieve More The Theme for our County and Provincial Officers www.ladiesgaelic.ie | SPRING 2024 | 47 O ur annual County and Provincial Executive Officer Conference took place in Croke Park on Saturday 10th February, the theme for the day was 'Together We Can Achieve More'. It is recognised that being a County or Provincial officer is a substantial undertaking and the conference was designed to provide support and guidance specific to each role and also how executive teams can work effectively together. Nearly 100 officers were in attendance which was a powerful statement of commitment to their roles and most importantly this gave people an opportunity network with each other. After an opening address by LGFA President Mícheál Naughton the morning session focused on 'Understanding my Role as a Leader' with Carol Mannion. This provided our officers with an opportunity to look within at their own leadership qualities and values. While the chairperson can be seen as the leader of a committee everyone was reminded that every officer in the room was elected so people identified leadership capabilities and strengths in everyone. Pedro Angulo led the afternoon session on 'Striving for a High Performing Team' and this emphasised the importance of all officers working together on an executive and being able to review their performance. There are high performing teams on the pitch but these will not be in existence without high performing teams off the pitch also. The afternoon was wrapped up with some round table discussions and sharing opportunities on various topics effecting counties and provinces, and provided them with a space to chat on these and provide tips and guidance to each other. LGFA CEO Helen O'Rourke then closed out the day and thanked everyone in attendance not only for their engagement throughout the day but for the hard work they all do, and will continue to do, over the coming months. It was a very positive day and officers left with tools to assist them in their roles and together as a team.
