ADVERT LEADING PROVINCIAL FEMALES The second edition of the Leading Provincial Females programme is underway. This programme is designed for females aged 18+ interested in their own personal development, and bringing their skills to their roles in Gaelic Games. We spoke to a participant from each province to find out how they are getting on... FEATURE Emily Bowens Rosaleen O'Brien Leah Brady Janey McCauley Connacht - Emily Bowens Why did you get involved in the programme? I've been involved in the LGFA as a player since I was 6 and on the committee as PRO this year. I was posting about the programme on our club social media page and thought I've always wanted to give something like it a go so I filled out the application form on the spot. What has been the best thing about your involvement in the programme? It's been brilliant to connect with ladies who have had the same experience with ladies sport and specifically the LGFA. After our first day together, I knew I made the right decision doing the programme after the group discussions. I didn't know what to expect heading to our day at the Centre of Excellence, but it was educational and motivational for both my sporting and professional lives. What have you learned most from your involvement in the programme? That if you want change, you have to lead by example and get involved, rather than sitting back discussing it. Has the programme changed how you approach your own involvement in Ladies Football? Yes, definitely, I am trying a more hands-on approach with areas where I feel I need improvement and attempting to influence others to follow. Leinster - Leah Brady Why did you get involved in the programme? I've always absolutely loved playing Gaelic Games so I got involved in both coaching and refereeing, which I suppose are two things that you can always improve at. I felt that the Leading Leinster Females would be a great way to learn that bit more about leadership, so that I can bring it back to my club and do the best job I can, especially with LGFA becoming so big in the club. What has been the best thing about your involvement in the programme? The best thing so far has been that I've learned so much already.
