NEWS & SHORTS November: Deirdre Doherty, Charlestown, Co. Mayo. In a dramatic provincial Final victory over Leitrim opponents, Kiltubrid, Deirdre scored 1-7, including the late free that she won and converted to secure a nail- biting 1-10 to 0-12 victory. That win sent Charlestown through to a currentaccount.ie All-Ireland semi-final clash with eventual champions, Longford Slashers. On the day, Deirdre scored all ten points for Charlestown, who lost out by 0-10 to 1-11. Deirdre, who registered 2-6 in October's county Final win, is a former Mayo Senior player who has also represented the Republic of Ireland as a soccer player at underage and Senior levels. October: Aileen Wall, Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford. Ballymac claimed a 41st consecutive county senior championship title before embarking on a memorable Munster championship run earlier this year. A stand-out result for Ballymac was victory over Cork outfit Mourneabbey in the Munster Senior Championship quarter-final, a game that saw Aileen find the net in a landmark win. Aileen was also highly influential in the Munster Senior Championship semi-final victory over Kerry's Southern Gaels – and she celebrated her 29th birthday in style the day Ballymacarbry were crowned Munster A Senior champions for the first time in 22 years, following victory over Clare opponents Banner. Aileen, a direct and pacey forward, has been a driving force for history-making Ballymac in their most recent outings and she is one of the most experienced members of the club's panel. September: Michelle Davoren, Kilmacud Crokes, Co. Dublin. Davoren, 27, was in superb form for Crokes when they were crowned Dublin Senior champions for the very first time with victory over Thomas Davis at Parnell Park on September 23. Davoren, a former All-Ireland U21 winner with Dublin, collected the Player of the Match award and registered 0-2 in a performance that followed another stellar display in the semi-final win over St Sylvester's, when the Green Party Communications Officer notched 1-4. The Croke Park/LGFA Player of Month Awards 'Heroes of Today, Inspire the Next Generation' The 12th and final video of the 2022 series focuses on Aileen McNulty, the proud mother of players Tara and Aisling from the Burrishoole club in county Mayo.
