NEWS & SHORTS www.ladiesgaelic.ie | SUMMER 2022 | 5 The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month June: Erone Fitzpatrick (Laois) The 21-year-old Park-Ratheniska player has been in scintillating scoring form to date during the 2022 TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship. In June, Erone registered 2-5 as Laois overcame the challenge of Tyrone in the group stages, before accounting for Wick- low in the quarter-finals. Erone scored 1-2 in Laois' fixture against Tyrone – and her mag- nificent solo goal went viral as Laois scored a significant victory over the Red Hands. She followed up with a personal tally of 1-3 against Wicklow. Erone has already amassed some other memorable moments throughout her career to date. She captained Scoil Chríost Rí to the Lidl All-Ireland Post Primary Schools A title in 2019, and she was a Yoplait O'Connor Cup winner with University of Limerick earlier this year. May: Kelly Mallon (Armagh) The vastly experienced Armagh Harps player was in excellent form for the Orchard County as they lifted the TG4 Ulster Senior trophy fol- lowing Final victory over Donegal on May 22. Mallon, 32, contributed a combined total of 3-10 across Armagh's two games en route to provincial glory in May. She scored 2-2 in the TG4 Ulster semi-final victory over Monaghan before contributing 1-8, including a late extra-time goal, in the Donegal win. GAELIC4MOTHERS&OTHERS – STRENGTH IN PARTNERSHIPS Ultra-successful Business entrepreneur Henry Ford once remarked: "Coming together is the beginning, Keeping together is the progress, working together is success." Since the inception of the Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme, sponsored by SportsDirect, clubs have brought participants from all backgrounds, with different life stories and experiences, together. These participants have enriched all aspects of club and community life. It was with this in mind that the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, along with Galway and Cork Sports Partnerships, sup- ported by Dormant Account funding, launched the G4M&O Volunteer Inclusion programme. This programme, through collaboration with both LSPs, will empower G4M&O participants to become active volunteers both within the club and also in the wider community. It will offer a full suite of educational and up-skilling modules that will give them the tools to contribute to the sporting lives of others. Modules including coaching, first aid, safeguarding as well as some self-paced learn- ing modules which will form a framework for the delivery of the programme, to ten selected G4M&O groups in each county. The delivery of the full suite will be a collaborative effort by all stakeholders. Inclusion will be central to the delivery of the programme with CARA inclusion courses planned as well as a GAA4ALL module that will aid clubs in establishing Gaelic Games inclusion initiatives within the club setting. All of the modules that participants will be of- fered will also have a reach beyond the club and further into the community and help to build those important links with the local authorities, enabling them to work together to make our communities healthier and more active.
