www.ladiesgaelic.ie | SPRING 2022 | 55 AMBASSADORS GAELIC 4GIRLS everything with me – even though I probably packed my gear bag three times the night before. I also have a coffee before every game. If I am travelling to a game, I always listen to music as well to keep myself occupied. ED: I have to say I am quite superstitious - I would always eat the same thing the day before/day of a game. I would always go up to the pitch the day before a game to do some light shooting. I wear the same pair of shoes to every game- my lucky shoes! Q3. As part of the Gaelic4Girls programme, the theme of peer, parental, and role model support and influence are hugely important. Who has had the biggest positive influence on your time playing Ladies Football and how have they had a positive influence? LR: I always say I have been so lucky to have had so many good coaches and teammates over the years. For me, Louise Henchy has had the biggest influence on me and I have been lucky enough to play club, county and soccer with her. When I was younger, she captained Clare to an All-Ireland in 2009 and looking on at my club-mate, she inspired us all in the Banner Ladies. The following year, I joined the Clare panel, I was only 16 and she texted me and offered me a lift and she collected me for every training. She really helped me to develop as a person and a player, and was always such a solid person to go to for advice. Looking back now, I realise how lucky I have been to have had her throughout my journey. ED: My dad has always been the biggest influence on my career. He would have played a huge amount of football in his time, and when he found that I had such a big interest in football from a young age, he has always pushed me to get the best out of myself. He understands me better than anyone I know, and we would be quite similar in a lot of ways so his advice has always been invaluable to me - whether I like what he's saying or not! Q4. What aspect of the Gaelic4Girls Programme has made the greatest impression on you? LR: I think the chance to promote the local clubs
