PATTERN 1:

Multiple footballs, cones and a goal

How do I execute this exercise?
• Distance between the cones is dependent on age/
ability of the group you are coaching. Normally
players at zone A are 50/55 m out from goals,
Players at zone C are 40/45m from goals near the
side-line while players at zone E are 15m from
goals.
• A coach or injured player stand at zones B and D.
Footballs are placed at zone A and B.
• Players at zone A run with pace with the ball to
cone F, players do a 180 turn and off loads the ball
to players coming from zone C. Player A, turns and
continues to flush out her run with pace to the

coach/selector at zone B. They receive the ball from
the coach or selector at zone B and proceed to punch
the ball over the bar.
• Meanwhile, player who received the ball from player
A at cone F, gives a kick pass to the coach/ selector
on zone D, players at zone E time their run and loops
around the coach/selector and kicks for a score
(point or goal)
Duration:
• 3 minutes and then conduct same activity on
opposite side of pitch. If you have large numbers,
then you can set up two grids on either side of the
pitch and one group goes for points while the other
group go for goals.
