INTERVIEW 30 | WINTER 2021 | www.ladiesgaelic.ie By DARAGH SMALL I t didn't take a mathematician to work out that Clíodhna Ní Shé was in contention for major honours when it came to the latter stages of this year's TG4 All-Ireland Championships. Nevertheless, the Carlow forward who studies Maths at Trinity College, has a brother studying Economics and Maths, and a father lecturing in Maths, knew the drill. She had to put up a decent score against Antrim in the semi-finals to stay on track for the brand new ZuCar Golden Boot award, and 3-5 later Ní Shé was in pole position to finish top-scorer. CLÍODHNA NÍ SHÉ ZuCar top scorer celebrates again with the TG4 Junior Players' Player of the Year. "It's not something I had ever really thought about," said Ní Shé. "But it was after the Limerick game, I scored 2-4 in that game. After that there was a release of where everyone was coming in the top scorers. That was when it was flagged. "That was when I knew I was in with a chance. We only had the Antrim game left. It was never something I went out to do. I was lucky, I took the penalties and scored a few penalties. That had helped as well. "It's the first time that the award has happened. I didn't even know it was going to be such a big thing. Even when I knew I was out in front, it was a nervy day on All-Ireland final day to see if the girls would catch me.
