38 | SUMMER 2021 | www.ladiesgaelic.ie TG4 SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW Q? Weighing up Dublin and Meath ahead of the 2021 TG4 All-Ireland Championship, which team do you think has the potential to go furthest in the competition? A: Dublin go into the Championship again this year as favourites to win the All-Ireland. They've shown throughout the League that they're still the team to beat. Meath will target the Tipperary game to hopefully reach the quarter finals. In their first year back up senior, that would be a great achievement. After that, anything is a bonus. HERE, THE ST BRIGID'S CLUBWOMAN RUNS THE RULE OVER DUBLIN AND MEATH, THE LEINSTER TEAMS IN ACTION IN THE 2021 TG4 SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. Q; When assessing both teams, who are the key players we should be looking out for – and why? A: Emma Duggan is a leader for Meath; powerful in possession. Stacey Grimes scores for fun inside while Máire O'Shaughnessy and Vikki Wall are the playmakers of the team. For Dublin, Hannah Tyrrell is the story of the year so far. She lit up the League with her performances. Jennifer Dunne is a powerhouse in midfield while Lyndsey Davey is their key playmaker. Q: Both teams won their respective League titles – Dublin in Division 1 and Meath in Division 2. Does League form give us any clues heading into Championship? A: I wouldn't read too much into it but it certainly helps that they've finished the League on a high note. It'll be interesting to see how Meath step up and perform against the top teams, as other teams have struggled to make that transition in recent years. Dublin winning Division 1 was great preparation but championship is a different ball game! SORCHA FURLONG EMMA DUGGAN CARLA ROWE HANNAH TYRRELL STACEY GRIMES NIAMH COLLINS VIKKI WALL
