With Donoughmore defenders lining the goal, Kearns took aim and rifled high and past the massed ranks, with the ball finding its way over the line for a quite remarkable score. Kearns also popped up with a late free to bring the game to extra- time, and was unlucky to finish on the losing side. Summary: Duggan Park in Ballinasloe played host to a thrilling All-Ireland Junior Club Final. It had been billed as the battle between Rena Buckley and Rachel Kearns in advance – and in many ways it turned out like that. Kearns, who was honoured with a first TG4 All Star award on the previous weekend, led the charge for Mayo outfit MacHale Rovers. The brilliant forward scored 1-5, including a remarkable goal and a late point to take the game to extra-time, but Donoughmore would ultimately prevail. Rena Buckley won her 21 st All-Ireland medal on the day, and this was her third at club level following Senior wins in 2001 and 2003. Rena scored 0-7 for Donoughmore in a Player of the Match display and her experience was invaluable as the winners toughed it out in extra-time to claim the silverware. CLUB FINAL CLUB FINAL "The crowd were so audible for the whole game. They really got behind each of their teams. Both teams travelled in numbers. It's fantastic for Ladies Football, fantastic for women's sport and it's great for sport. Sport is brilliant!" Donoughmore's Player of the Match Rena Buckley.
