MATCH Stats Analysis 2. CONVERSION RATE In the first half Galway had ten shots on the Dublin goal, at the other end Dublin had a meagre four. In the first 30 minutes of football both sides only managed to convert one opportunity each. In the opening quarter of the game Galway had the majority of the possession and this was reflected in a significantly higher number of shots taken. To their detriment however, they did not take advantage of Dublin's slow start and kicked five wides, dropped two short and hit the post, all in the first half. In the second half it was Dublin who had ten shots on goal and managed to convert four efforts. Overall Dublin had a slightly better scoring rate of 36% versus Galway's 27%. 1 st 2 nd 1 st 2 nd Total SHOTS TAKEN SCORES WIDES DROPPED SHORT SAVED POST 4 1 2 0 0 1 10 4 5 0 0 1 Total 14 5 7 0 0 2 10 1 5 2 0 1 5 3 1 0 0 1 15 4 6 2 0 2 SHOT ANALYSIS DUBLIN GALWAY BLOCKED 0 0 0 1 0 1 SCORES SHOTS SCORERS DUBLIN S Goldrick 1-00 1-00 0-01 0-01 0-01 H O'Neill S Aherne L Davey 2 2 4 1 1 N Healy SCORES T Leonard (2f) T Leonard S Conneally 4 5 1 0-02 0-01 0-01 GALWAY SHOTS 3. GOALS WIN GAMES Goals had a big say in the outcome of this All Ireland final. When scoring opportunities were hard to come by being able to secure a three pointer was vital. Dublin got five scores and Galway got four – the major difference was Dublin's two goals. Neither of these goals were particularly pretty. Sinéad Goldrick's first half powering run at the Galway goal ended up with three Galway players colliding and the centre back finding a way to get her boot on the end of something to get the ball in the net. Far from pretty but so important. Hannah O'Neill's goal in the second half was a little closer to what we have come to expect from the Dublin team. We have seen a number of punched goals over the last three Championships. It never looked like Galway were going to get in close enough for a goal, and this was ultimately a significant factor in the outcome of the game.
