24 | SPRING 2019 | www.ladiesgaelic.ie FEATURE Preview CHAMPIONSHIP TG4 JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP SAOIRSE TENNYSON Antrim missed out on the Lidl NFL Division 4 title earlier this year when they were beaten by Ulster rivals Fermanagh in a thrilling final. But their captain Saoirse Tennyson gave another outstanding display in Clones. Her mazy runs have become a feature for Sean O'Kane's side. And she was named at wing-back in the Lidl Division 4 Team of the League. One to watch for the remainder of the summer. Antrim would gain revenge against Fermanagh in the Ulster Final. EIMEAR BYRNE Picked at midfield on the Lidl NFL Division 4 Team of the League, the St Mochta's youngster was brilliant throughout the campaign, even though Louth were shocked by Antrim in the semi-final. And she backed that form up against Carlow in the TG4 Leinster junior final recently. LAURA DAHUNSI Influential Antrim midfielder Laura Dahunsi was selected at midfield in Lidl Division 4 Team of the League. Similar to her clubmate and captain Tennyson, the 17-year-old St Paul's midfielder gets up and down the field with ease. What an exciting talent she is! EDEL HAYDEN Carlow finished just one point and place outside the semi-finals in the Lidl NFL Division 4 standings. And there were unfortunate to come out second best against Louth in the TG4 Leinster Junior final. Edel Hayden has been their star performer all year and was named at centre- forward in Lidl Division 4 Team of the League. JOANNE DOONAN Fermanagh claimed a brilliant 2-8 to 1-10 victory over Antrim in the Lidl NFL Division 4 final at Clones earlier in the summer. It was a fantastic success for Jonny Garrity's charges, backboned by the leadership of their captain Joanne Doonan. The Kinawley forward claimed a spot at wing- forward in the Lidl Division Team of the League. EIMEAR SMYTH Fermanagh's Eimear Smyth has an exciting future ahead of her and she was picked at full-forward in the Lidl Division 4 Team of the League. One of the most dangerous attackers in Ladies football at the moment, she highlighted that with a magnificent 1-6 haul in the Lidl NFL Division 4 final. MAIREAD KAVANAGH Limerick claimed the TG4 All-Ireland junior crown in 2018 and Mairead Kavanagh was sensational. In her first year as part of the panel she went on to score 2-2 against Louth. Limerick have subsequently found it tough in the Intermediate ranks but Kavanagh picked up a place at corner-forward in the Lidl Division 4 Team of the League. Antrim would gain revenge against Fermanagh in the Ulster Final.
