ladiesgaelic.ie // 49 INTERPROVINCIALS 2019 Volume 14 | Issue No 4 | PEIL Winter riege Corkery stole the show in WIT as she led her Munster teammates to putting an abrupt stop to Ulster's dominance of the LGFA Interprovincial series. This competition was Corkery's first outing in elite football since the 2016 TG4 All-Ireland Senior Final victory for Cork over Dublin. Ulster were going for 7 titles in a row. When they met Munster in the first round of the competition the two sides could not be seperated. Tipperary's Aishling Moloney took the lead in ensuring that the reigning champions were sent a strong message as the round one games finished 0-13 to 2-07. Munster then went on to record a 4-11 to 0-07 win over Connacht before also defeating Leinster by 3-13 to 2-03 to ensure their spot in the Cup Final. Ulster had also defeated Connacht and Leinster RESULTS ROUND ONE Connacht 1-12, Leinster 1-07 Munster 0-13, Ulster 2-07 ROUND TWO Connacht 0-07, Munster 4-11 Leinster 0-07, Ulster 2-06 ROUND THREE Connacht 0-09, Ulster 1-10 Leinster 2-03, Munster 3-13 FINALS Cup; Munster 3-13, Ulster 2-05 Shield; Leinster 7-07, Connacht 2-05 setting up a second meeting with their Round One opponents. The final was fast and aggressive. Kerrywoman Sarah Houlihan drove the Munster forward line, scoring 1-08 in total. In defence the Munster women were inspired by Waterford's Emma Murray and were in total control at half time as they led 1-08 to 0-02. Munster maintained their lead in the second half, Ulster simply unable to find a way to close the gap. The Cup Final finished 3-13 to 2-05. SHIELD GLORY FOR LEINSTER Meanwhile, Leinster pulled it out of the bag and secured the Interprovincial Shield as they defeated Connacht by 7-07 to 2-05. Captained by Dublin's Lyndsey Davey, Leinster had been unlucky earlier in the day – suffering losses to Connacht, Ulster and Munster. They were well served though by Dublin's Carla Rowe and Davey B MUNSTER Call a Halt to ULSTER Interprovincial Reign with Bernie Breen, Erone Fitzpatrick, Fiona Claffey and Mairead Daly all showing well for Kevin Doogue's side.
