Only kicking 3 wides in an All Ireland final is outstanding. Cork's 4 wides was impressive but dropping under 50% on their second half conversion rate killed them Total - 1-09 0-03 - Total 22 13 4 2 5 10 15 20 25 30 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 SCORES SHOTS S AHERNE (1-0p 4f) C ROWE N OWENS N McEVOY 9 2 3 1 1-07 2-00 0-02 0-01 SCORERS S GOLDRICK 1 0-01 CORK 35 40 45 50 55 60 0 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 SCORES 1 st 2 nd 1 st 2 nd Total POSSESSIONS ATTACKS SHOTS SCORES CONVERSION RATE TURNOVERS AGAINST 21 15 7 1-05 86% 12 18 18 15 1-07 47% 9 Total 39 33 22 1-12 59% 21 22 16 10 2-06 80% 12 18 15 9 1-05 67% 9 40 31 19 3-11 74% 21 INSIDE 45 OUTSIDE 45 INSIDE 45 OUTSIDE 45 won lost MATCH STATS First Half won lost Second Half won lost First Half won lost Second Half won lost First Half won lost Second Half won lost First Half won lost Second Half SHOTS O FINN (8f) A O'SULLIVAN D O'SULLIVAN C O'SULLIVAN 10 5 2 1 0-08 1-02 0-01 0-01 SCORERS SCORES SHOTS S AHERNE (1-0p 4f) C ROWE N OWENS N McEVOY 9 2 3 1 1-07 2-00 0-02 0-01 SCORERS S GOLDRICK 1 0-01 8 0 8 0 0 0 1 1 7 1 6 1 1 1 0 0 CORK DUBLIN DUBLIN CORK DUBLIN'S GOALS GOAL ONE Sinéad Aherne's penalty put Dublin 3 up at a time where Orla Finn's frees had kept Cork in the game. This was where Dublin's use of the foot pass came into its own. Sinéad Goldrick kicks the ball down the left wing to Nicole Owens taking out three Cork defenders. A second kick pass from Nicole Owens to Niamh McEvoy takes out more Cork defenders leaving it 3 on 3 in the Cork full back line (picture 1). Cork work hard to get players back and even have two defenders to cover Lyndsey Davey's run (picture 2) but because of the pace Dublin move the ball at they are forced to foul her and concede the penalty. GOAL TWO Nicole Owens had 2-7 scored before the final but some felt she was deployed slightly further from goal this season than we saw last year. Dublin's second goal though showed exactly why Dublin persist with this tactic. Her unselfish running from deep allowed space for the forwards around her to work the score. Lyndsey Davey receives the ball (Picture 3) 50 metres out from goal. Owens takes off on a run from behind her. Owens takes the ball on the 45 (picture 4), beats two defenders and then pops the ball off to Olwen Carey and between Carey and Rowe they work the 2 on 1 to score. GOAL 3 12:20 left on the clock, Orla Finn puts over yet another free to bring the game back to one point, 2-8 to 1-10. Cork push up on the Ciara Trant kickout but Dublin retain the ball through Sinéad Goldrick. Goldrick is fouled and Cork have a chance to get back in position as Dublin take a moment over the free. A Martha Byrne run from deep all the way to the edge of the Cork D causes chaos in the Cork backline and Rowe rounds yet another defender before slotting home for Dublin's third and this time decisive goal. FIRST HALF SECOND HALF
