ladiesgaelic.ie // 53 COACH EDUCATION Volume 14 | Issue No 3 | PEIL Autumn adies Gaelic Football Association delivered their first full Level 2 Coaching Course in recent months. LGFA Coach Developers William Harmon and Cliodhna O'Connor delivered the course to fifteen coaches from various parts of the Country. This programme builds on the Level 1 course which saw an emphasis placed on areas such as nutrition and hydration, strength and conditioning along with coaching skills. The new Level 2 course brings the focus back to the specifics of the game itself and challenges coaches to strive to achieve all their physical, technical and tactical targets through the use of football orientated activities. The programme specifically focuses on helping coaches to identify patterns of play and giving coaches an understanding as to what is required by the players prior to adopting these new tactics. The course helps coaches to identify the skills and qualities required by each individual player to execute the new plays and how best to identify the players most suitable to fulfil the required roles. It also enables coaches to tailor the training specific to the needs of their teams. 2019 will see the new level 2 programme being delivered in more venues across the Country so watch this space!
