52 // Ladies Gaelic Football Association CLUB OFFICER PROGRAMME Volume 14 | Issue No 2 | PEIL Summer ecently, the LGFA conducted club officer training in counties Kerry and Laois, with a view to updating and revamping our club officer development programme. Over the past month, almost 100 officers from over 35 clubs in 2 counties attended and completed training in the roles of chairperson, secretary, Treasurer, Registrar and PRO. Training new officers before they take on new responsibilities will ensure they are able to fulfil their roles and live up to expectations plus the training can be invaluable for existing officers wanting to refresh their skills Here are a few tips to help guide you through planning for the new-officer training season. Who organises the training? Counties can book the training for the clubs in their county by contact Niall Mulrine by emailing niall.mulrine@lgfa.ie and the recommended times for training are October/November for preparation for AGM's or January through to March for appointed officer being in place. Who should attend the training? Counties should invite—and expect— all elected club officers (chairperson, secretary, PRO, Treasurer and Registrar) to attend this training, as well as anyone interested in taking on a role within a club in the future. Role of the Secretary This module will cover: • Your role as Secretary • Administration duties • Meetings, communication & planning • Getting information Role of the Treasurer This module will cover: • Your duties • Financial management • Financial reports • Income sources • Budgeting Role of the PRO This module will cover: Role overview Promoting your Club Digital/social media Media relationships Supports and resources Key Features of Club Officer Training • Practical and engaging 2 way learning style • Delivered by trained and experienced facilitators • Respect for your previous knowledge and experience • Information specific to each officer role Key Benefits of attending Training • Better understanding of your role • Improved leadership skills • Increased role satisfaction • Awareness of resources and support • Preparation for future roles SUPPORTING OUR ADMINISTRATORS R Why should you take part? Because your club is a volunteer led organisation, it's important that the people who take on roles within the club are aware of what is expected from their role and also what support is available to them. Club Officer Training is a great opportunity for club officers to connect and network with officers from other clubs and share best practice. What is covered in the training? Officers need numerous skills to be successful in life and in leadership. There are two kinds of skills they will learn from this and additional training: hard skills and soft skills. Both are equally important.
