34 // Ladies Gaelic Football Association REFEREE DEVELOPMENT PEIL Summer | Issue No 2 | Volume 14 ames can't go ahead without the referee, they are an integral part of the Association and therefore deserve a support structure that allows them to do their job to the best of their ability. With the launch of the latest LGFA strategic plan and the expansion of games development staff at National level, referees will now benefit from an even greater level of support. Earlier in the year Clare Dowdall joined the National Games Development team with a remit for Referee and Player Development. One of the first projects Clare will oversee will be the integration of Hudl into the referee develeopment system. Hudl is an online support system which will provide a platform for referees to review performances and share knowledge. Creators of the technology, Avenir Sport, is a leading software company who are revolutionizing the way in video analysing and supporting players, referee and coaches. Hudl offers tools to edit and share video, interact with stats, and create quality highlight reels for entertainment and recruiting purposes. One of the key features of the Hudl platform is its referee specific coding and G analysis tools. Users can use a multi-angle tool that will give accurate feedback on the positioning and lines of sight of the referee in action as users are able to switch between angles as the footage is playing. The panel of LGFA Intercounty referees is expanding annually. They are a commited group who are consistently striving to provide the best service they can for the game. This latest venture into online video analysis for referees will have a signicant impact on the future individual development of the top tier of Ladies Football referees. Utilisation of this software will also allow LGFA Referee Educators to incorporate more interactive content into Formal Referee Education Courses.
