The backbone of the Cavan team consisted of a number of players from the Loreto secondary school who claimed All Ireland glory earlier this year. In the first half it was the midfield pair of Ellyanna Madden and Letiza Sheridan that hit the net for Cavan. In the second half substitute Bonnie McKiernan swung the momentum back to Cavan at a critical point before Sheridan bagged another goal. Dublin corner forward Shannon Russell was a constant threat in the second half. She struck the woodwork twice and certainly kept Cavan 'keeper Emma Mulvaney busy. She was rewarded for her determination and finally found the net Despite Dublin rallying towards the end of the game, Cavan enjoyed a strong finish and their late goals broke Dublin hearts.
